The Fiber
What is Pashmina?
Pashmina is an exceptionally fine natural fiber obtained from the undercoat of the Changthangi goat — a rare mountain goat native to the high-altitude regions of Ladakh in the Himalayan plateau.
14,000
ft
elevation where the goats roam
At temperatures plunging below −30°C, these goats develop an incredibly soft and warm undercoat to survive. Unlike ordinary wool in every measure of fineness, warmth, and grace.
Origin
Nature's Masterpiece
The journey begins in the rugged Himalayan landscape, tended by nomadic Changpa communities who have cared for these animals for centuries — preserving a delicate balance with the fragile Himalayan ecosystem.
"The goats graze naturally on alpine grasses and mountain herbs, thriving in one of the most pristine environments in the world."
Ethics
No Harm to the Animals
As winter ends, goats naturally shed their soft undercoat. Skilled herders gently comb loose fibers by hand — no shearing, no injury, no distress.
- Does not injure the animal
- Does not involve shearing the skin
- Causes no pain or distress
- Follows the goat's natural biological cycle
